Mr. Delany recalls drawing at a very early age. In particular, he drew an image of Abe Lincoln on his Winky Dink screen at about age 5, perhaps 6. His mother was elated, he remembers. As a high-school student, he studied in Princeton, New Jersey under Rex Gorleigh, learning to draw letterforms. Mr. Delany attended the Rhode Island School of Design, graduating with a BFA from the graphic design department with a minor in photography.

He began his professional career launching new products for Johnson & Johnson, Dupont, Catelli Foods, and other industry-leading companies. For many years, he operated Delany Design Group, in Providence, Rhode Island, serving the needs of corporate marketing communications by providing design services for such companies as Data General, Fleet Bank, Knoll International and many others. In Boston, he managed creative departments for Scudder Stevens & Clark (financial), Arthur D. Little Global Consulting (think tank), and e-Dialog, a venture-capitalized high-tech email marketing company.

Currently, he owns aaaForay, Inc., a 24/7 on-line brand-design consultancy specializing in graphic identity, web design, corporate marketing/sales communications, packaging, and related forms of strategic electronic and print communications; see http://www.aaaforay.com.

Examples of his work have been included in the National Monument at Ellis Island, the Smithsonian National Medical Archive, the Lee Iacocca Collection, the Reagan Collection, and the graphic design collection of the Museum of Modern Art, NYC. Paintings have been exhibited at the Donald Thomas Gallery, The David Charles Gallery, and the Providence Art Club (where his oil of a nude on masonite, 'My Stockbroker' was accorded 'Best of Show'). Mr. Delany's preferred mediums are oil and acrylic on canvas, wood, and masonite, also screen printing, offset lithography, typography and engraving.

Mr. Delany's 'Who We Are™' American Flag poster portfolio (www.americanflagposters.us) has been accorded a Gold Award from Graphis, Inc. (www.graphis.com), and is included in a hardbound book, 'Graphis Poster Annual 2007, The Best of International Visual Communications,' now available. In September 2007, the artist was honored to be chosen among 50 artists from around the world as a winner in Manhattan Arts International's 'Healing Power of Art' competition. Mr. Delany's original engraving, 'The Two Great Commandments' was featured in the Works on Paper category. This engraving is one of a dozen he has completed over the years on religious and spiritual topics. You can see the exhibit on-line at: http://manhattanarts.com/Gallery/Healing2007/Best_Paper.htm

The artist is touched, moved and inspired by the many peoples he has seen in his travels around North America, from Alaska to Maine, and Florida to California; also Canada, from Dawson Creek and the Yukon to Nova Scotia (many stops in between); Colombia, South America, Puerto Rico, The Dominican Republic, Jordan, Egypt and Israel.

THE NEWPORT RI COLLECTION: Mr. Delany finds inspiration in the magnificence of the natural world, some of which shows up in the paintings comprising this collection of small acrylic works on prepared masonite. At present, Sheldon Fine Arts, on Bannister's Wharf, Newport, RI is carrying many of the works presented here.

CELL-PHONE LIFE, a collection of images capturing the idea that cell-phones are at the center of our lives in some respects, for all people, at any time, no matter what else is going on in life, the general idea.

LIBRARY OF CONGRESS: In December, 2009, the designer's collection of 'Who We Are™' American Flag Posters was entered into the collection of the Library of Congress, Prints and Photographs Division. See the series at http://www.americanflagposters.us

In 2010, expect to see some cityscapes of the picturesque, geographically splendid City of Fall River, MA, just before the collection of 'Nude Bankers and Credit Reporting Agency Professionals' is hung, gallery to be determined. Thank you for visiting this website.
